November is Diabetes Awareness Month. According to the Statistics Canada, nearly 1 in 10 Canadians aged 20 years and older has been diagnosed with diabetes. Diabetes is a disease in which your body either can’t produce insulin or can’t properly use the insulin it produces. Did you know? Diabetes related expenses comprise a major part of our benefit plan. This month reminds us to learn about the risk factors associated with diabetes.

Raising awareness can encourage us to look for symptoms and seek treatment. Symptoms of diabetes can be increased thirst, frequent urination, unexplained weight loss, and fatigue. If you experience any of these symptoms, make sure you consult a medical doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment. Managing diabetes involves a combination of medication, a healthy diet, regular exercises, and monitoring blood sugar levels.

To learn more about diabetes, Teladoc is hosting a Diabetes: The Basics webinar on Tuesday, November 26th at 12:00 p.m. Join Dr. Serena Natale in this webinar to gain a foundational understanding of diabetes, its types, causes, and management strategies. During the webinar you will learn about:
