Financial Literacy Month happens every November in Canada. This year’s theme is “Talk Money”- a call to action to encourage open conversations about money across Canada,
breaking down the stigma that often surrounds financial discussions. Talking about money with others can provide opportunities to learn new tips and identify resources which can increase financial knowledge and lead to better financial decisions. If you don’t know where to start, you can check out the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada. The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada has a variety of great tools to help you choose a bank account, credit card, and also has budget and mortgage calculators.
You can also check out your Member Assistance Program (MAP) – Telus Health which has resources on financial wellness and can help you find a financial planner if you’re looking for one. Your MAP is available 24/7/365: call the Care Access Centre toll-free at 1-866-289-6749 and indicate that you are a member of the IBEW Local 353.
